As I've been preparing to leave on our mission to Africa, I've been reminded of a number of verses that have really moved me. Here's the one I read this morning. Found in 1 Peter chapter one.
"So roll up your sleeves, put your mind in gear, be totally ready to receive the gift that's coming when Jesus arrives. Don't lazily slip back into those old grooves of evil, doing just what you feel like doing. You didn't know any better then; you do now. As obedient children, let yourselves be pulled into a way of life shaped by God's life, a life energetic and blazing with holiness. God said, "I am holy; you be holy."
I'm so excited to see what God's going to do through the team that's going, through the hearts of the natives, and in my heart. When I think about the trip, it makes me think about how small I am in the grand scheme of things, and how big God is. I'm looking forward to being a part of a team that's going to be able to paint a big picture of Christ and His redeeming love to people who might have never even heard the name Jesus. I'm looking forward to teaching kids about the grace that's extended to each of us, and I'm excited to be a part of a team that's going to be training local pastors so they can have the resources to continue to make a big difference in the lives of the people in their communities.
Please continue to pray. Just about each day, we've been given prayer updates, and I realize I've been pretty bad at sharing them on the blog, but here goes.
1-The team going to Sudan leaves this afternoon. Pray for their journey and safety as they travel.
2-I'm going to cut and paste an email that was sent to me yesterday. Here goes…
"Ok team, it's crunch time. Reid heard from Pastor John this morning and was told that it is going to cost us $10,000 to get the machines to Suswa and drill the well. God placed this project on Pastor Craig's heart and confirmed that we were to do it by providing the grant funds and also extra money totalling $6000. We also have the sign to place with the well. These things are not an accident. They were ordained by God.
So, what this is, is a call to HIS servants to stand strong against the enemy!! he does not get the glory in this battle, God does. So, please join me in prayer and battle. Pray that God would place someone on your heart to approach to donate to this project. Our work is not done. We have a total of 4 days to raise $4000. God can do it!!!! If we deposit the money on Monday, I can cash the check on Tuesday to bring with us. So, get on your knees and ask the Lord for HIS provision. I look forward to praising HIM with you on this project!!!! Now, go get 'em!!!!! Call me if you need anything!!!! I'm praying and trusting!!!"
BTW-I hate asking for money. I really do. But seriously, we take clean water for granted in this country and the water well for this orphanage is top-priority for their safety and health.
I just created this online tool so you can give towards the water well project. It's tax-deductible through Crossroads Church of Pittsburgh. Email me if you have any questions.
