The Best Job in the World…

So a couple of times a year, we gather all the leaders at Ginger Creek and we have what’s called “leadership community.” Last night we had the second leadership community and it was an incredible night of community together. During the meeting, all the pastors had the opportunity to share some vision for 2007, and what we got to see God do in the life of Ginger Creek in 2006.

In a lot of ways, 2006 was a stretch year for our church. We got stretched out of our comfort zones in a variety of ways, but we got to see God do some truly amazing thing as well.

I honestly can’t express in words how “pumped” I am for ’07. We’ve fasted, prayed, and mulled over what we believe God has for the community called Ginger Creek for this next year. I said last night, and I believe with all my heart that I have the coolest job in the world. I get to work with some of the most talented people I know, I get to do art, I get to serve Jesus, and I get to see other people use their God-given gifts to reach people far from God. I expect nothing short of “amazing” in ’07 at GC.

Here are some of the highlights from Arts at GC ’06:
-150 people made first time decisions for Christ at Easter and Christmas
-Largest Easter attendance ever at GC (almost 2900)
-We doubled Christmas attendance from ’05 (over 2800)
-I can’t even count the number of stories from people who walked through the doors of a church for the first time (and that happened to be GC) this year
-Dozens of “new creekers” plugged into ministry
-We brought on Kyle as our music director Christie as our drama director and Barb as our production coordinator in ’06 (maybe we should say…Christie came back…whohoooooo)

Charles also shared the vision for ’07 and here are some highlights:
-We’re partnering with another church in our area to change the future of kids at Jericho Circle (these kids are headed towards homelessness, and welfare)
-We’re going to feed tens of thousands of starving children oversees through Feed My Starving Children
-We’re going to have 6 Easter services this year, 6 or 7 at Christmas, a fall-festival (for families in October)
-We’re committed to new forms of innovation, excellence, and creativity in our weekend experiences
-We’re committed to seeing hundreds of people make first time decisions for Christ
-And our overarching goal for the year…we want to see life-change happen in creekers this next year.

Anyways…if you’re a creeker, pray that God will do truly amazing things in ’07 in your life, and in the life of our community.

Awesome stuff! Isn't fun to get to do stuff like that and be a part of God's work? He's so nice to let us do work that pumps us up! What a privilege.
